With the advancement of technology, many massage chairs now come with various additional features and settings to customize your massage experience – such as horizontal “Zero Gravity” recline, foot massagers, speed settings, roller width, and which area of the body to focus on. Some massage chairs even have built-in heating for your back to enhance the massage experience, or Bluetooth speakers to kick back with your favourite tunes or relaxing sounds.

Choosing the type of massage chair that’s best for you will depend on the features, size, price and warranty available on your purchase.

Types of Massage Chairs Available:

1.      Full-body, Zero-gravity “2D” & “3D” massage chairs:

Full-body massage chairs are designed to provide a comprehensive massage experience from head to toe. They typically feature rollers and airbags that massage the neck, shoulders, back, legs, and feet. A good full-body massage chair should include a “zero-gravity” recline function, to elevate the feet and give you a feeling of weightlessness during your massage. When the knees are raised higher than the heart, this can help reduce pressure on the spine and increase circulation.

Synargy’s range of Smart Comfort massage chairs can also include features such as foot massagers, heating, voice control, and even music players to enhance the massage experience.

They are usually larger in size and more costly than other types of massage chairs – such as the “camp chair” style, or the “cover” type that slips over top of a regular dining chair.

Recliner massage chairs are similar to traditional recliner chairs, but with added massage features. They typically feature airbags that provide a massage for the neck & shoulders. These chairs are more affordable and compact – they can be a better option for those with limited space, or for those don’t like the more futuristic look & style of the dedicated zero-gravity massage chairs.

Synargy has a range of electric lift recliner chairs for assisting users in and out of the chair, with some models also featuring airbag back massage.

Massage technology like this is now also starting to appear in standard lounge suites, for the hidden extra functionality of a relaxing massage without a dedicated separate chair.

As a lower cost option, or an entry point into home massage chairs, there are also a range of massage accessories available from many retailers such as:

  • seat cover massage chairs – these sit over the top of any regular chair and add massage functionality in a limited capacity

  • massaging appliances – this may be a smaller cushion-like device with massage balls or rollers, that can easily be positioned behind the lower or upper back

  • handheld massagers – massage ‘guns’ that can provide highly-targeted massage for sore muscles

These options are great starting points for a lower cost however the trade off is a much less featured, less intense and less personalised massage experience.

When shopping for a home massage chair solution, consider both your budget and the level of functionality you are looking for. A dedicated massage chair is the best option for a comprehensive massage and will match the experience of a real human massage much closer.

We highly recommend visiting your local retailer (you can find retailers on our product pages) and testing out our Smart Comfort home massage chairs to experience the difference a dedicated chair can make.
